Job Title: Mixer Operator

1st shift

Job Description

The Mixer Operator oversees multiple plastic mixing lines, ensuring efficient line setup and teardown, accurate execution of formulations and work orders, and smooth, continuous production. This role involves troubleshooting production line issues, maintaining clean equipment, correctly staging materials, and supporting various tasks throughout the facility as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple plastic mixing lines to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production.
  • Set up and tear down mixing lines according to established procedures and production requirements.
  • Accurately follow formulations and work orders for each production run, ensuring proper materials and quantities are used.
  • Troubleshoot production line issues as they arise and take corrective action to minimize downtime.
  • Clean feeders, dies, and barrels throughout the shift to maintain equipment performance and product quality.
  • Correctly stage raw materials and supplies to keep production running smoothly and avoid delays.
  • Perform shop mathematics and accurate measurements to verify materials, formulations, and finished product specifications.
  • Assist with other tasks throughout the facility as required, supporting cross-trained roles and team needs.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team to meet production goals and quality standards.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in a dirty, high-contact environment.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand and work with production machinery and equipment.
  • At least 3 years of previous manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to understand shop mathematics and perform accurate measurements.
  • Strong attention to detail in following formulations, work orders, and quality standards.
  • Previous manufacturing experience in environments involving extrusion, plastic, mixing, or rubber is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to learn forklift operation as part of material handling duties.
  • Capability to lift up to 60 lbs throughout the shift.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous material handling experience is a plus but not required.
  • Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled, dirty production environment.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained and exposed to multiple roles within the facility.
  • Reliability in adhering to safety protocols, including required showers before leaving each day.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Akron, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
