A well-established and growing organization is seeking a Controller to lead its accounting function and partner with senior leadership on financial performance, reporting, and process improvement. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the month-end close process, managing day-to-day accounting operations, and supporting strategic business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, cash management, and general ledger activities.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial performance metrics.
- Analyze financial results and provide insights to leadership.
- Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Coordinate year-end activities and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve reporting, processes, and overall business performance.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong experience with financial reporting, month-end close, cash flow management, and internal controls.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation.
- Experience within transportation, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, or other operationally focused industries is a plus.
- Advanced Excel and accounting system proficiency.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
