Summary:
The Fabrication Engineer is responsible for designing mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks and optimizing production efficiency through nesting operations on CNC machinery. This role plays a critical part in supporting AID's manufacturing processes by ensuring accurate fabrication data, maximizing material usage, and streamlining workflow from design to production.
Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks in accordance with project specifications and manufacturing capabilities.
- Support Engineering team as needed for proposals and submittals.
- Generate detailed part and assembly drawings for internal fabrication and external vendors as needed.
- Prepare and manage nesting files for CNC cutting equipment to ensure efficient material usage and production throughput.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and ease of assembly.
- Maintain an organized library of fabrication drawings, models, and nesting programs.
- Identify and implement improvements in design practices, material utilization, and CNC programming processes.
- Support production troubleshooting related to fabrication design or nesting outputs.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and internal best practices.
