Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee the accounting operations for a growing industrial manufacturing business in Houston, Texas. This position combines hands-on financial leadership with strategic partnership, supporting executives and operating teams as the company expands across multiple locations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, a process-improvement mindset, and the ability to build an effective, scalable accounting function.
Responsibilities:
• Direct core accounting activities, including the close cycle, ledger oversight, account reconciliations, and preparation of accurate financial statements.
• Guide, coach, and strengthen the accounting team while reinforcing disciplined workflows and internal controls.
• Work closely with executive and operational leaders to deliver financial insights that support planning and business decisions.
• Refine accounting procedures and reporting practices to support growth and improve scalability across the organization.
• Use financial systems and reporting tools to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and the reliability of accounting data.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, cash planning, and analysis to help leadership manage performance effectively.
• Coordinate with external audit and tax partners to support compliance and timely reporting obligations.
• Promote consistency in accounting practices across locations and business units, including process alignment and operational support.
• Provide financial guidance to leaders throughout the organization and travel occasionally to company sites as needed.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of month-end close and financial reporting.
• Background in manufacturing, industrial, fabrication, energy services, or a comparable operating environment is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience leading, mentoring, or supervising accounting staff.
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal control practices.
• Strong systems proficiency, including experience with ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics, with a focus on process improvement.
• Ability to think beyond day-to-day accounting and connect financial results to broader business performance.
• Effective communication, analytical, and organizational skills, with a practical leadership style suited to a growing company.
