Job Description

Job Description

Why this role exists

We are building a facility for NASA, and NASA holds us to the highest quality standard in federal construction. We need a QC Manager who runs a program so disciplined that the government trusts it completely and never feels the need to send in its own inspectors. This is a single-duty role: quality is the entire job. When this project closes out, you will stay on as the dedicated QC Manager for our Huntsville office.

What success looks like

  • NASA trusts your program. Your CQC plan is accepted, NASA relies on it without adding its own inspection layer, and every evaluation rates quality Very Good or better.
  • Three-phase control, every time. Every definable feature of work gets a preparatory, initial, and follow-up inspection, documented and on file before the next phase starts. No exceptions.
  • Right the first time. At least 95% of work passes NASA inspection on the first attempt, and the punch list closes on time.
  • Submittals never stall the job. Every submittal is reviewed and returned within contract turnaround, and no work starts without an approved submittal.
  • A clean finish. The facility is fully commissioned and earns LEED or Green Globes certification, with complete documentation at closeout.
  • A system that outlasts the project. You leave behind QC templates, checklists, and logs that become the standard for our Huntsville office.

Who thrives here

You have failed work that didn't meet spec and held that position under schedule pressure. You keep documentation current every day, not at the end of the week. You close everything you open. You catch problems at the preparatory meeting, before crews ever mobilize. You can tell a superintendent "no" without making an enemy. You chose quality as a career, and you want to build a QC function, not just staff one.

Requirements (all required by NASA contract)

  • Four-year accredited degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or Building Science. The contract allows no experience substitute.
  • 5+ years in a titled QC Manager role. Collateral-duty QC does not count.
  • 5+ additional years as a superintendent, QC manager, PM, project engineer, or construction manager on similar-size projects that included structure, envelope, MEP, and finishes.
  • Working knowledge of submittal review, testing and certification documentation, and construction inspection. You can read drawings and specs across all major trades.
  • U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident able to pass the background investigation for MSFC badging.
  • Based in the Huntsville area, or willing to relocate, for full-time on-site work.

Preferred

  • USACE CQM-C certification
  • Three-phase control experience on NASA, USACE, or NAVFAC projects
  • Commissioning-heavy building experience, including LEED or Green Globes delivery
  • Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar software

What this role is NOT

  • Not a superintendent or safety role. The contract prohibits the QC Manager from holding any other duty. If you want to run crews or cover safety too, this isn't the fit.
  • Not remote or hybrid. You'll be on site at Redstone Arsenal every day.
  • Not a rubber stamp. If you're uncomfortable stopping work or rejecting a submittal to protect the standard, this role will be a struggle.
  • Not a short-term gig. We're hiring for this project with the intent to build our permanent Huntsville QC function around you.

Compensation & benefits

  • $120,000–$144,500 base plus discretionary annual bonus
  • Company truck, vehicle insurance, and gas card
  • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • 2 weeks PTO
