Role Overview
- Company: Nexus Integrity Management, LLC
- Location: Kansas City, KS
- Travel: Limited to job walks
- Compensation: $85,000–$110,000 base + benefits
Mission
Run every assigned project so it makes the margin it was bid to make, finishes on the schedule promised, and keeps crews producing at or above plan. The person in this seat owns scope, schedule, and budget completely. They catch problems in the numbers before they show up in the field, and deal with them directly.
Outcomes
These are the results you'll be held accountable for. Performance reviews are scored against them.
- Margin delivery (ongoing from first project): Deliver actual gross margin dollars at or above estimate on every project. When a job trends below estimate, put a written recovery plan in place within one week.
- Crew productivity (baseline by month 3; at plan by month 6): Establish a productivity baseline for every crew, then bring crews to or above their planned production rates. Document corrective action for any crew below plan.
- Schedule adherence (by month 6, then ongoing): Meet project milestones on time or early. No schedule slip reaches the client without a revised plan already in hand.
- Full ownership (by day 60): Independently manage scope, schedule, and budget across your full project load without day-to-day oversight.
- No-surprise forecasting (by day 45): Deliver a weekly cost-to-complete and margin forecast on every active project, so leadership never learns of a margin problem at closeout.
- Crew leadership (ongoing from day 1): Address crew and foreman performance issues within the same week they surface, with documented expectations and follow-up.
- Continuous improvement (by end of year 1): Identify and implement sequencing or resource changes that measurably shorten durations or improve crew utilization.
- Growth (by year 2): Perform at a level that makes you a credible candidate for Director of Project Management.
Competencies
- Honesty / Integrity: Reports margin and schedule reality accurately, including bad news. Never shades the numbers.
- Organization & Planning: Builds and maintains realistic schedules, manpower plans, and budgets across multiple projects without anything slipping.
- Communication: Gives clear, concise updates to crews, clients, and leadership. Can explain a variance and its fix in two minutes.
- Financial Acumen / Analytical Skills: Reads job cost reports, pinpoints where margin is leaking, and acts before closeout.
- Follow-Through & Ownership: Delivers on every commitment and treats a missed number as their own problem to solve.
- Managerial Competence & Proactivity: Confronts underperformance promptly and firmly. Raises risks before being asked.
- High Standards & Attention to Detail: Holds crews and self to plan. Catches scope gaps and change-order opportunities.
- Flexibility / Adaptability: Re-plans quickly when conditions change without losing control of cost or schedule.
- Strategic Thinking: Sees how individual projects connect to company growth, which matters for the Director path.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience: 4–8 years in project management or project-level leadership, with at least 2 years accountable for project budgets and margin.
- Industry: Oil and gas or construction preferred. Strong PMs from comparable field-service industries are considered if they've managed crews and margin.
- Leadership: Has directly led field crews or foremen, ideally across multiple concurrent projects.
- Education: No degree required. Your track record matters more than credentials.
- Mindset: Owns their numbers, communicates straight, and wants to grow into senior leadership.
What This Role Is Not
- Not a coordination or scheduling role. If you've never been accountable for a project's margin, this isn't the right fit.
- Not a desk job. You'll be in the field for job walks and expected to know your projects firsthand.
- Not a place to avoid hard conversations. Crew performance issues get addressed directly and quickly.
- Disqualifiers: Poor communication and lack of organization. Either one rules a candidate out.
