Machining Group Leader
2nd Shift | Greenfield, IN
Salary: $60,000 Annually
First Call Professional is recruiting for an experienced Machining Group Leader to join our client’s manufacturing team in Greenfield, Indiana. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing leader who can effectively lead machining operations, support production goals, and guide employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Schedule
2nd Shift: Starts at approximately 3:45 PM
Shifts may range from 10–12 hours
Must be available to work every other weekend based on production needs
Hours worked over 40 per week are paid at straight time
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review production orders and schedules to determine product specifications, quantities, and delivery dates and plan department operations accordingly.
Plan production operations and establish priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure product quality and adherence to specifications.
Review production and operating reports and troubleshoot operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues to minimize costs and prevent delays.
Inspect machines and equipment to ensure optimal operational performance.
Develop or revise standard operating practices and ensure team members follow established standards.
Compile, maintain, and retrieve production data.
Coordinate team members responsible for recording work hours and processing time records, including PTO.
Perform daily operational tasks and responsibilities of team members and leaders as needed based on staffing conditions.
Conduct coaching and disciplinary actions when necessary.
Provide hands-on leadership to support safety, quality, production, and efficiency goals.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous manufacturing leadership experience preferred.
Machining or related manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, and communicate effectively with employees.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts and apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
Strong practical problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Plex Manufacturing software, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word preferred.
