Location: Racine, WI area (on-site, aluminum castings foundry)
Job Summary
A knockout operator removes cores from aluminum castings after they come out of the mold, using a jack hammer and other handling equipment, and gets the cast parts ready for the next stage of production. This is physical, hands-on work in a safe, efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Remove cores from aluminum castings.
- Remove aluminum castings from sand molds after cooling.
- Operate shakeout equipment, jack hammer, or other material handling equipment.
- Inspect castings for obvious defects such as cracks, incomplete fills, or damage.
- Transport castings and scrap materials using forklifts, hoists, or pallet jacks (if certified).
- Follow all safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and cleaning of foundry equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work in high-temperature environments.
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including heat-resistant clothing, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/foundry environment with exposure to heat, dust, noise, molten metal, and moving machinery.
Details
- Pay: $20-22/hr to start, depending on experience
- Shift: 1st shift, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM (8.5 hrs on site, 30 min unpaid lunch)
- Contract position with a direct-hire opportunity after 520 hours
- PPE: safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hat or soft cap
