Lead Project Safety Coordinator
Location:Appleby, TX
Pay Range: $55.00/hr-$65.00/hr
Per diem available if a traveler
Diversified Safety Services is seeking an experienced Project Safety Coordinator to join our team and support a construction building project in Appleby, TX. This role offers the opportunity to play a critical role in driving a culture of safety, ensuring compliance, and fostering a proactive approach to workplace health and safety on a large-scale, high-visibility project.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion Safety Culture:Prepare and enforce health and safety policies that build a safe, proactive jobsite environment.
- Lead Safety Programs:Design and implement safety programs, plans, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Monitor & Report: Track safety compliance, document findings, and communicate updates
- Identify & Solve Hazards:Spot risks early, recommend solutions, and ensure preventive measures are put in place.
- Drive Engagement:Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training sessions to keep teams engaged and aligned.
- Stay Present & Involved:Maintain regular on-site presence, participate in project meetings, and provide proactive safety guidance.
- Ensure Compliance:Verify that all work follows approved manuals, internal procedures, and contract requirements.
- Maintain Documentation:Keep accurate logs of inspections, reports, and safety correspondence.
- Oversee Site Activity:Supervise subcontractors and contractors to ensure work meets EHS requirements.
- Investigate & Improve:Conduct investigationsforaccidents, incidents, and near misses; follow through on corrective actions.
- Enforce Standards:Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with safety procedures at all times.
- Support the Project:Contribute to additional safety initiatives and requirements as needed.
Required Experience and Qualifications (PLEASE READ IN FULL BEFORE APPLYING)
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 consecutive years as a fulltime construction safety professional (heavy civil or commercial projects is preferred)
OR
- A 4-year degree in construction safety PLUS a minimum of 3 years of fulltime construction safety experience (heavy civil or commercial projects is preferred)
Certifications:
- CSP, CHST, or similar nationally recognized certification may provideup to 2 years of experience credit, subject to UTS-ORM approval
- Must have currentOSHA 500 or OSHA 502
- Required Safety Training:Minimum 4 hours per topic, completed within 5 years of Notice to Proceed:
- Fall Protection
- Scaffolding – ground supported & suspended
- Excavation/Trenching
- Confined Space – permit & non-permit
- Crane Operations
- Electrical Safety
- Incident Investigation
- Construction Industrial Hygiene
- Fire Protection & Prevention
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Basic Crane Rigging
- Respiratory Protection
- First Aid/CPR/AED:
- Specialized training within-person competency demonstration
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA guidelines, regulations, and safety programs.
- Ability to produce clear reports, develop procedures, and implement effective safety solutions.
- Excellent hazard recognition, data analysis, and risk assessment skills.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication abilities.
- Professional presence on-site and ability to lead teams through incidents or emergencies with composure.
