We are seeking an experienced and certified Generator Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and service commercial, industrial, and residential standby and prime-power generator systems. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs of generators and related equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, fuel, cooling, and control- system issues.
- Service diesel, natural gas, and propane generator systems.
- Perform load-bank testing and generator performance testing.
- Inspect transfer switches, control panels, batteries, chargers, wiring, and associated equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Perform routine oil, filter, coolant, battery, belt, and other maintenance services.
- Respond to emergency service calls and generator breakdowns.
- Document service work, repairs, parts used, test results, and equipment conditions.
- Communicate professionally with customers and explain necessary repairs or maintenance.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Follow OSHA, NFPA, manufacturer, and company safety requirements.
- Maintain required certifications and stay current with generator technology and manufacturer procedures.
Qualifications:
- Certified Generator Technician or equivalent manufacturer-recognized certification preferred/required.
- 3+ years of experience servicing and repairing generators preferred.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with automatic transfer switches and generator control systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and emergency/on-call shifts when required.
- Ability to lift equipment and work in outdoor, industrial, and physically demanding environments.
Preferred Certifications:
- Generator manufacturer certifications such as Cummins, Caterpillar, Generac, Kohler, or equivalent.
- OSHA safety training.
- NFPA 70E electrical safety training.
- EPA/Diesel or other applicable certifications, as required.
- Electrical or HVAC-related certifications are a plus.

Physical Requirements:
The technician must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, work in confined or outdoor areas, and safely lift and move tools and equipment. The position may require working in varying weather conditions and responding to emergency service calls.
