We’re working with a growing engineering and manufacturing company that designs, builds and installs perimeter security and hostile vehicle mitigation systems for government, military and commercial facilities across the U.S.
They’re adding a Civil Engineer to their Franklin team a hands-on engineer who can take ownership of civil design, produce their own Civil 3D work and see projects through to construction.
What You’ll Do
- Own the civil design for projects from site investigation through construction
- Produce your own Civil 3D drawings for site plans, grading, drainage, roadways and excavation
- Conduct site investigations and gather field data to inform design
- Prepare construction drawings, submittals, specifications, as-builts and bills of materials
- Coordinate civil designs with mechanical, electrical, project management and field teams
- Participate in project and client meetings as a technical resource
- Support field engineers and installation crews during construction, startup and troubleshooting
- Apply applicable DOT, MUTCD and other project standards
- Help improve engineering design procedures and drawing standards
- Travel approximately once per month, typically 1–2 nights, for site surveys and field work
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Strong hands-on Civil 3D experience and the ability to produce your own drawings
- EIT with approximately one year remaining toward your PE, or a newly licensed PE
- Approximately 3–4+ years of site civil, land development or related civil design experience
- Experience with grading, drainage, site layout, roadways or similar civil design
- Comfortable working with other engineering disciplines, project teams and field personnel
- Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- DOT or MUTCD experience
- USACE, DoD or other federal project experience
- Construction or design-build experience
- A&E or land development firm experience
- Foundation or structural design exposure
