Responsible for developing, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of the Memory Care Program to ensure residents living with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other cognitive impairments receive compassionate, person-centered care. This role creates and maintains a therapeutic environment that promotes each resident’s highest level of well-being, dignity, independence, and quality of life while supporting residents, families, and team members.

RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, supervising, training, and retaining Memory Care staff. Maintains adequate staffing coverage for all shifts, including securing replacement coverage for call-outs and vacancies, and escalates unresolved staffing needs to the Executive Director as appropriate. Provides ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and staff development
Licensed Nurses will Develop, maintain and periodically update written care policies, procedures and manual, objectives and philosophies in collaboration with the Executive Director/Nurse.
Implement plans of correction for state surveys and deficiencies, complete medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charts, etc. Implement and maintain the continuous quality improvement program in collaboration with the nurse/Executive Director.
Ensures Memory Care staff receive required orientation, dementia-specific education, practicum experience, annual training, in-services, and ongoing competency development. Provides or secures additional education as needed based on resident needs, performance concerns, regulatory requirements, or identified training gaps.
Implements the Memory Care Program’s mission, philosophy, and person-centered approach. Maintains a therapeutic environment and meaningful programming designed around residents’ individual preferences, abilities, life histories, and cognitive needs.
Oversees Memory Care activities, volunteer involvement, and other engagement initiatives.
Participates in pre-admission screening and interviews with prospective residents and families in coordination with Sales and Resident Care. Collaborates with the DRC, Memory Care staff, residents, and families to develop and maintain individualized care plans/24-hour service plans and ensure services are consistently delivered according to documented resident needs
Serves as a primary liaison for Memory Care residents and families and supports effective communication regarding resident needs and program services. Partners with Sales and Marketing in prospective resident visits, pre-admission discussions, referral relationships, and promotion of the Memory Care Program.
Ensure services are delivered consistently according to individualized care plans.
Attends Department head meetings and leads regularly scheduled Memory Care Program meetings.
Participate as instructed in the sales process of potential residents.
Participate as a Manager on Duty during assigned weekends/ holidays.
Community Leadership & Emergency Response: Expected to serve as essential leadership personnel during inclement weather and emergency protocols. This includes on-site presence or active coordination of community safety, staffing levels, and resident care in accordance with state regulations.
Remain professional and maintain a service-oriented environment through appearance, communication, and interactions with residents, families, visitors, and colleagues.
Any other duties assigned by the Executive Director and management.
Licensure Requirement: Employee must maintain a current, valid Georgia CMA and CNA license in good standing throughout employment. Failure to maintain the required license or certification may result in removal from duties requiring licensure and may affect continued eligibility for the position, in accordance with applicable law. MCD are required to notify the Company immediately if their license expires, lapses, is suspended, restricted, revoked, or otherwise becomes inactive.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 21 years of age, or older
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all background screening requirements permitted by applicable federal, state, and local law.
Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must demonstrate professionalism, empathy, patience, and effective interpersonal skills when interacting with residents, families, visitors, and team members.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Previous successful experience in a memory care unit is preferred.
Registered Nurse or Licensed Nurse in good standing who meets all federal and state licensure requirements, OR an individual holding current med tech certification OR certified dementia practitioner training required.
Prior experience working with older adults with memory impairment.
Two years of experience in geriatric care.
Demonstrated supervisory experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, transferring, and assisting residents as required by the position.
Must be able to squat, reach, and stretch without distress.
Must be able to tolerate extended periods of walking and standing.
