Position Overview:
We are seeking an Entry-Level Data Center Technician to support the installation and organization of network and data center infrastructure. This is a hands-on role ideal for candidates with experience in cable installation, telecommunications, low-voltage work, construction, or the skilled trades who are looking to start their careers in the data center industry.
The technician will work alongside experienced team members to install cabling, assist with rack deployments, and help prepare equipment for customer handoff. Training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates who are eager to learn and work in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation and routing of copper and fiber optic cabling within data center environments.
- Pull, dress, label, and organize cables in overhead cable trays and pathways.
- Support the placement, movement, and positioning of server racks and related equipment.
- Assist with equipment installation and infrastructure build-out activities.
- Follow cable management standards and project documentation.
- Work safely while using ladders, lifts, and basic installation tools.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Collaborate closely with team members and assigned mentors to complete project objectives.
- Follow all site safety requirements and utilize company-provided PPE.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in cable installation, telecommunications, construction, warehouse, low-voltage, cable provider, or other hands-on technical environments.
- Ability to use basic hand tools.
- Comfortable working on ladders up to 8 feet high.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment as needed.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous structured cabling or low-voltage experience.
- Experience with companies such as Comcast, Spectrum, Cox, Charter, Verizon, AT&T, or similar service providers.
- Exposure to data centers, telecommunications, network infrastructure, or fiber cabling.
- Experience reading basic installation drawings or diagrams.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift throughout the workday.
- Comfortable working on ladders and in active construction or data center environments.
- Ability to safely move racks, equipment, and cabling materials.
