Associate Design Engineer
Support the design, development, testing, and improvement of systems, components, and products across multiple engineering disciplines. This position applies fundamental engineering principles, analytical methods, and modern development tools to deliver solutions that meet performance, safety, quality, and cost objectives. The selected candidate will work within multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting both customer and internal development projects. This role provides broad exposure to product design, engineering analysis, validation testing, system integration, and manufacturing support.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop components, assemblies, and systems using modern CAD and engineering analysis tools.
- Support mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, systems, or other related engineering activities based on project requirements.
- Perform engineering calculations, simulations, tolerance studies, and technical evaluations to assess product performance and reliability.
- Assist with validation and verification activities, including test planning, test execution, data analysis, and documentation of results.
- Identify design and process concerns, support failure investigations, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, virtual validation, project management, manufacturing, and company leadership.
- Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, technical specifications, design documentation, and reports.
- Ensure designs meet applicable company, customer, and industry standards.
- Support product development activities from initial concept through validation and implementation.
- Contribute to engineering process improvements, standardization efforts, and knowledge sharing.
- Complete a minimum of 10 hours of professional or technical development annually.
- Maintain involvement in relevant professional organizations, such as ASME, SAE, or IEEE.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Three to four years of relevant engineering experience, including applicable internship or cooperative education experience.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, NX, Solid Edge, AutoCAD, or a comparable platform.
- Familiarity with engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS, Nastran, Mathcad, or similar software.
- Strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles, materials, and applied physics.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to calculations, design decisions, and technical problem-solving.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong teamwork, organization, and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with product design, system integration, or manufacturing support.
- Knowledge of industry standards, including ASME, ISO, SAE, or UL standards.
- Exposure to design validation testing, failure analysis, or root-cause investigation.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary product-development teams.
- Progress toward Engineer in Training certification, Professional Engineer licensure, or another relevant professional certification.
