Diesel Mechanic / Equipment Technician

Position Summary

Lance Rental Company is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Equipment Technician to join our growing operations team. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing diesel-powered rental equipment used throughout the industrial and petrochemical markets.

Previous pump experience is preferred but not required. We are interested in experienced mechanics with backgrounds in diesel engines, heavy equipment, construction equipment, generators, compressors, hydraulics, or other industrial equipment. Qualified candidates will receive training on our pump systems and rental fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel-powered equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled service on rental fleet equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, and hydraulic system issues.
  • Inspect equipment upon return from customer locations and identify required repairs.
  • Perform complete operational testing before equipment is released as rent-ready.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and determine the appropriate corrective action.
  • Use diagnostic software, meters, gauges, and other testing equipment to identify equipment issues.
  • Complete accurate service records and document repairs performed.
  • Maintain company tools, diagnostic equipment, and assigned work areas.
  • Support field service activities and customer equipment issues as needed.
  • Follow company safety procedures and all applicable customer-site requirements.
  • Assist other technicians and operations personnel as required to support daily business needs.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy-equipment technician, industrial mechanic, or similar position preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing diesel engines.
  • Working knowledge of 12V and 24V electrical systems.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems preferred.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and standard shop equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position.

Preferred Experience

Experience with any of the following is beneficial:

  • Diesel engines
  • Heavy or construction equipment
  • Industrial pumps
  • Generators or compressors
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Electrical troubleshooting
  • Equipment rental operations
  • Industrial or petrochemical facilities

Industrial pump experience is not required. Candidates with strong diesel and equipment repair experience who are willing to learn pump systems are encouraged to apply.
