About the Role:
Ouachita Contract Manufacturing, LLC is seeking a dependable and mechanically skilled Packaging Mechanic to support packaging and production equipment at our Monroe, Louisiana manufacturing facility.

This is a hands-on technical position responsible for equipment setup, changeovers, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of packaging machinery used in a regulated manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, able to diagnose equipment problems methodically, and understands the importance of following approved procedures and documenting work accurately.

Responsibilities


  • Set up, adjust, troubleshoot, and repair packaging and production equipment
  • Perform equipment changeovers and mechanical adjustments according to approved procedures
  • Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and sensor-related equipment issues
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and routine equipment inspections
  • Replace worn or damaged components and document repairs performed
  • Support fillers, cappers, labelers, cartoners, conveyors, coders, shrink equipment, and similar packaging machinery
  • Verify equipment is returned to an acceptable condition following maintenance or repair
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and parts-use records
  • Immediately report equipment conditions that could affect product quality, equipment qualification, or safe operation
  • Coordinate with Production and Quality when maintenance work may affect line clearance, product contact surfaces, coding, labeling, or other quality-related conditions
  • Follow GMP, safety, lockout/tagout, PPE, sanitation, and equipment-control procedures
  • Assist with equipment installation, qualification, and improvement activities as assigned
Qualifications


  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Experience repairing or maintaining manufacturing, packaging, industrial, or automated equipment preferred
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems
  • Ability to read and use technical manuals, equipment drawings, schematics, and troubleshooting guides
  • Experience with packaging equipment such as fillers, cappers, labelers, conveyors, cartoners, or coding systems preferred
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely
  • Ability to troubleshoot systematically and work with limited supervision
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Technical or vocational training preferred
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • GMP or regulated-manufacturing experience preferred but not required
Physical Requirements


  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work around industrial equipment
  • Ability to lift and handle tools, parts, and equipment components weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in production areas while wearing required PPE
