Automotive Mechanic About the Role
The Automotive Mechanic role at our company supports safe, reliable vehicle performance by diagnosing mechanical issues and completing repairs to manufacturer specifications. You will work on a variety of systems to ensure vehicles are serviced correctly, efficiently, and with attention to quality.
Success in this role means delivering accurate diagnostics, completing repairs safely and on schedule, and maintaining clear documentation of work performed to support consistent, dependable vehicle outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose vehicle problems by inspecting mechanical components and reviewing symptoms and service history.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections according to established procedures.
- Repair or replace worn, damaged, or malfunctioning parts, including brakes, suspension, steering, and drivetrain components.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and complete repairs.
- Verify repairs by conducting functional tests, road tests when applicable, and re-inspections.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Document findings, parts used, and work completed in accordance with internal processes.
- Inspect vehicles for additional issues and recommend appropriate next steps when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to support efficient workflow and consistent service quality.
- Maintain and calibrate shop tools and diagnostic equipment as required.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; formal automotive training preferred.
- Experience: Typically 1+ years of hands-on automotive repair experience (or equivalent training and practical experience).
- Diagnostic skills: Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues using standard inspection methods and diagnostic tools.
- Tools & equipment: Familiarity with common shop tools and automotive diagnostic equipment.
- Industry knowledge: Working knowledge of vehicle systems (e.g., brakes, suspension, steering, engine components, drivetrain).
- Quality focus: Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing repairs correctly the first time.
- Safety mindset: Ability to follow safety procedures and handle tools and equipment responsibly.
- Communication: Clear, respectful communication with team members and the ability to explain work performed.
- Work ethic: Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to manage tasks in a fast-paced environment.
