Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join a detail-oriented services organization in Carlsbad, California on a contract basis. This onsite role will provide immediate support to attorneys during a critical trial preparation period and is best suited for someone who can contribute quickly with limited direction. The position offers the opportunity to play a key role in organizing complex case materials, managing deadlines, and helping the legal team stay fully prepared for trial, with potential for longer-term consideration based on business needs.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with attorneys to support trial preparation activities and keep case matters moving efficiently from pre-trial planning through courtroom readiness.
• Assemble, organize, and maintain trial binders, exhibit files, and related case documentation so materials are accurate and easy to access.
• Oversee document handling tasks, including production coordination, filing support, record maintenance, and distribution of legal materials.
• Prepare printed and compiled trial packets, exhibits, and supporting documents for attorney review and use during proceedings.
• Monitor case files, calendars, and court-related deadlines to help ensure timely completion of required litigation tasks.
• Provide hands-on litigation support in the period leading up to trial and assist with day-to-day case management needs.
• Maintain orderly and up-to-date legal records while proactively identifying gaps, missing documents, or items requiring attorney attention.
• Work independently in a fast-paced environment, anticipating attorney needs and delivering reliable support with minimal supervision.• At least 5 years of paralegal experience, with substantial exposure to litigation matters.
• Demonstrated background supporting civil litigation cases in an active legal environment.
• Proven trial preparation experience, including management of exhibits, binders, and supporting case materials.
• Ability to take ownership of assignments, prioritize effectively, and work with limited guidance.
• Strong organizational skills with experience handling high volumes of legal documents and records.
• Comfortable working under tight deadlines in a fast-moving, trial-focused setting.
• Proficiency with case management software and document-intensive litigation workflows.
• Availability to work fully onsite in Carlsbad, California.
