Job Description

This role combines material handling, shipping and receiving, inventory management, and kitting responsibilities within a modern manufacturing warehouse. You will handle valuable and potentially fragile raw materials, as well as large finished electrical panels, ensuring safe, accurate movement and storage. The environment is productive and deadline-focused, with an emphasis on organization, quality, and proper inventory control rather than high quotas.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sit-down forklifts to safely move large electrical control boxes and panels, maintaining slow and controlled operation to protect fragile and high-value materials.
  • Use RF scanners and basic computer systems to track, record, and update inventory movements and transactions accurately.
  • Lift, move, and place boxes and materials in assigned locations, ensuring proper labeling, organization, and storage.
  • Process incoming materials by confirming part numbers and quantities against purchase orders and shipping documents.
  • Stage materials in designated inventory locations to support efficient production and shipping activities.
  • Pull and identify parts from inventory according to bills of material and job requirements.
  • Accurately sort, pick, and kit inventory items and raw materials for customer-specific jobs, ensuring correct delivery to the appropriate facility and production line.
  • Deliver completed kits to the production floor or external suppliers in a timely manner to support on-time manufacturing schedules.
  • Read and interpret bills of material, pull stock, and accurately transact material movements in the electronic inventory tracking system.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks, including palletized and oversized materials, using appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse, following established housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Support physical inventory counts and help maintain accurate inventory records within business systems.
  • Demonstrate strong time management and productivity by organizing workload to meet deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with team members across fabrication, welding, wiring, and assembly areas to ensure smooth material flow and customer-focused service.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors regarding inventory issues, material shortages, and process improvements.
  • Apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills to resolve inventory discrepancies and material handling challenges.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Material Handler or Forklift Operator within a manufacturing warehouse environment.
  • Proficiency operating sit-down forklifts safely and effectively with large and potentially fragile materials.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, inventory transactions, and use of electronic tracking systems.
  • Experience using RF scanners for inventory tracking and material movement.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Hands-on experience with shipping, receiving, and inventory control processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret bills of material and part numbers accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail to confirm part counts and ensure accurate kitting and material handling.
  • Commitment to producing quality work and maintaining organized inventory.
  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and support cross-functional operations.
  • Demonstrated time management and productivity skills to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Sound problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a warehouse and production support setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Technical School education preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing warehouse rather than a distribution center is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of inventory management practices and electronic inventory tracking systems.
  • Ability to use pallet jacks and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Understanding of safe loading and unloading practices for trucks and large pallets.
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethics, aligning with organizational vision, mission, and values.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to supporting internal and external customer needs.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team-oriented, inclusive workplace.
  • Willingness to participate in continuous improvement initiatives and find better ways of performing tasks.
  • Solid job knowledge and ability to clearly understand and execute assigned roles and responsibilities.
