Ideal Candidate
Requires at least two years experience of the following responsibilities:
- Equipment Operation
- Operate a wide variety of motorized heavy equipment and vehicles used in earthwork and civil construction, including but not limited to:
- Bulldozers
- Excavators
- Motorgraders / Rollers
- Articulated and off-road haul trucks
- Loaders and skid steers
- Clear and grub sites, strip topsoil, cut and fill, spread, and compact material to the required grade
- Build and fine-grade building pads, roadways, parking areas, ditches, and slopes
- Load and haul material safely and efficiently
- Work with grade checkers, laborers, and truck drivers to keep the job moving
- Take direction from the Crew Leader on daily goals and priorities
- Equipment Care
- Prepares heavy equipment by conducting inspections; performing preventive maintenance checks
- Complete daily pre-shift inspections, check fluids, grease equipment, and keep machines clean
- Report damage, leaks, or mechanical problems to the supervisor immediately
- Fill out daily equipment logs and inspection forms accurately
Safety- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
- Follow all Burns Dirt safety rules and OSHA standards
- Stay aware of people, trucks, and other equipment around your machine at all times
- Watch for overhead power lines and marked underground utilities
- Take part in daily safety briefings and report any hazard, incident, or near-miss right away
Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
- Experience with Trimble GPS or other machine control systems is preferred but not required
- Ability to read labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
- Attention to detail and alert at all times to ensure safety
- Able to receive and follow instructions
- Communicates well with co-workers
- Ability to safely operate various vehicles and equipment
- Previous experience, especially in the construction industry, preferred
All candidates must be able to pass the following:
- Drug Screen (fee paid by Burns)
- Background Screening
- MVR Screening
