Overview:
As a Project Engineer I, you will play a key role in supporting the Production Team by coordinating all stakeholders involved in the construction process. Reporting to the Production Manager, you will assist Site Managers and/or Site Superintendents with the day-to-day management of residential construction projects, ensuring efficiency, communication, and foresight in all tasks. The ideal candidate is proactive, able to multitask, and thrives in high-pressure environments.
1. Project Coordination & Execution
- Coordinate with PMs, Site Managers, and Superintendents to support project execution.
- Identify coordination gaps and bring them forward proactively.
- Support jobsite setup, logistics, and material procurement tracking.
- Help ensure materials are available when needed.
Success Looks Like
- PM, Site Manager/Superintendent understand priorities and upcoming work.
- Coordination gaps are identified and addressed before they cause delays.
- Jobsite logistics and material needs are planned ahead.
- Materials are tracked and delivered in alignment with the schedule.
- The team has the information needed to execute the work.
2. POs & Subcontract Management
- Prepare, issue, and track purchase orders as directed.
- Support subcontractor onboarding and documentation.
- Verify commitments align with approved scope and budget.
- Identify discrepancies and escalate them appropriately.
Success Looks Like
- POs are accurate, timely, and properly tracked.
- Subcontractors are properly onboarded before starting work.
- Commitments align with approved scope and budget.
- Discrepancies are identified and brought to the PM's attention.
- Project commitments are organized and visible.
3. Change Orders Documentation & Processing
- Support the change-order process from initiation through approval.
- Coordinate scope, pricing, and documentation with trades and PMs.
- Track CO status and follow up on outstanding items.

- COs are accurately documented and routed promptly.
- Scope and pricing information is clearly documented.
- CO status is current and visible to the project team.
- Outstanding COs are actively followed up on.
- Approved changes are properly reflected in project records.
4. Project Documentation & File Integrity
- Maintain accurate and complete project documentation.
- Keep Buildertrend information current.
- Follow established file structure, naming, and record-keeping standards.
Success Looks Like
- Project files and Buildertrend are accurate and current.
- Information is organized and easy to find.
- Project records accurately reflect decisions and commitments.
- Documentation gaps are identified and corrected.
- Project records are consistently maintained and audit ready.
5. Information Flow RFIs, Submittals & Drawings
- Track RFIs, submittals, and drawing updates.
- Follow up on outstanding responses.
- Communicate important updates to the field and project team.
Success Looks Like
- RFIs and submittals are consistently tracked through resolution.
- Outstanding responses are followed up on promptly.
- Current drawings and information are clearly identified.
- Critical information reaches the right people.
- Unanswered questions and decisions are not allowed to fall through the cracks.
6. Scheduling & Communication
- Support coordination of milestones, inspections, deliveries, and project events.
- Identify potential schedule constraints and communicate them early.
- Coordinate with Design, Marketing, Production, and other internal teams as needed.

- Key events are coordinated in advance.
- Potential schedule issues are identified and communicated early.
- The team understands upcoming requirements and constraints.
- Communication is timely and clear.
- Issues are escalated before they become emergencies.
7. Field & PM Support
- Provide day-to-day coordination support to the PM and field team.
- Assist with field issues through communication and documentation.
- Take ownership of assigned administrative workflows.

- The PE I is a reliable coordination resource for the PM and field team.
- Field issues are documented, communicated, and followed through.
- Assigned workflows are completed without constant direction.
- The PM spends less time chasing information and status updates.
- The PE I is increasingly proactive, independent, and confident in knowing when to escalate.
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in Engineering preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction.
- Skills:
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Proficiency in construction management platforms such as BuilderTrend is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Familiarity with PlanGrid and Bluebeam a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to work on-site under various conditions, including exposure to weather, deconstruction, excavation, and structural phases.
- Ability to safely navigate construction sites, including ascending/descending stairs and ladders.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. safely.
