This role focuses on assembling and fabricating precision metal components used in highreliability switch and keyboard products for demanding applications. You will work hands-on with metal parts, mechanical assemblies, and shop-floor fabrication equipment while interpreting technical drawings and work orders to ensure accurate, high-quality production. The position follows a 4/10 first-shift schedule and offers opportunities for overtime when needed.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble metal components, including switch housings, matrix frames, and related mechanical parts, according to engineering drawings and work orders.
  • Perform metal fabrication tasks such as cutting, drilling, punching, and other shop-floor operations using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints, verifying all details against work orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Match part numbers to work orders and cross-check them with engineering drawings to ensure correct components are used.
  • Operate shop equipment such as drill presses, punch presses, metal cutters, and laser metal cutters in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Use computers for documentation, basic data entry, and interaction with machine interfaces as required by production processes.
  • Apply RTV adhesives and other materials accurately and consistently as part of the assembly process.
  • Use measuring tools, including tape measures and calipers (such as hole diameter gauges and dial calipers), to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to resolve issues, clarify specifications, and support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, following shop safety procedures and best practices.
  • Handle and grasp small parts and materials with precision, using magnification tools when necessary.
  • Follow documented procedures, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions to meet quality and production standards.
Essential Skills
  • Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Hands-on experience working with metal parts and mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience working with RTV adhesives in an assembly or fabrication environment.
  • High attention to detail when verifying part numbers, work orders, and drawing accuracy.
  • Familiarity with shop tools and metalworking equipment, including drill presses, punch presses, metal cutters, and similar machinery.
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers, including hole diameter gauges and dial calipers.
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and interaction with machine interfaces.
  • Ability to read and write in English to follow work instructions, drawings, and documentation.
  • Approximately 2 years of mechanical assembly or production experience, ideally in medical, aerospace, or electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience using hand and power tools in a production or mechanical assembly setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret bills of materials (BOMs) and schematics.
  • Compliance with ITAR requirements, with appropriate documentation as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • CNC experience in a fabrication or machining environment.
  • Prior experience in a fabrication or mechanical assembly shop.
  • Experience working in industries such as medical devices, aerospace, or electronics production.
  • Comfort using magnifying tools to work with small parts and detailed assemblies.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with a variety of shop-floor equipment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and production personnel.
  • Consistency in following established procedures and quality standards.

Work Environment

You will work in a small, close-knit production environment of approximately 40 production employees, fostering strong teamwork and collaboration. The role follows a first-shift 4/10 schedule, typically Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime opportunities on Fridays when needed. The position involves frequent sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and handling or grasping materials in a manufacturing setting, as well as occasional kneeling, bending, and squatting. You will use keyboards, ten-key input devices, and computer interfaces, and you will work with magnifying tools and small parts that require good eyesight and fine finger dexterity. The shop environment includes metalworking and fabrication equipment such as drill presses, punch presses, metal cutters, and laser metal cutters, with an emphasis on maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
