Do you love dogs and want to make a difference in their lives? H.A.L.O. Animal Rescue is looking for a dependable, hardworking, and compassionate Part-Time Dog Caretaker to join our team!
Our dog caretakers play an important role in keeping our dogs healthy, safe, clean, and comfortable while they wait for their forever homes. We are looking for someone who understands that animal care takes patience, teamwork, physical effort, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare.
Schedule
- Days: Monday and Friday
- Hours: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Position: Part-time
Job Responsibilities
- Feed dogs according to established feeding schedules and instructions.
- Clean kennels, runs, and dog care areas to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
- Wash food and water bowls and maintain clean bedding and supplies.
- Provide fresh water and monitor dogs for changes in behavior, appetite, or overall condition.
- Safely handle and move dogs as needed.
- Follow all shelter cleaning, sanitation, safety, and animal-handling protocols.
- Work cooperatively with team members to ensure the daily needs of the dogs are met.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for both animals and staff.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding position. Applicants must be able to:
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, kneel, squat, and stand for extended periods.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and other inclement weather.
- Tolerate loud noises, barking dogs, and a busy shelter environment.
- Perform repetitive cleaning tasks and remain active throughout the workday.
Qualifications
- Dependable, punctual, and hardworking.
- Comfortable working around dogs of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
- Able to follow directions, established procedures, and safety protocols.
- A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Previous animal care or shelter experience is a plus, but a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are essential.
