Job Title: Entry-Level to Experienced Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

This role offers a hands-on opportunity to grow from an entry-level mechanic into a seasoned diesel mechanic. You will work in a well-equipped shop, support off-shift operations, and receive on-the-job training if you bring a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a positive attitude toward learning. The position focuses on the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of diesel engines and heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs on diesel engines and heavy equipment under supervision.
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Support diagnostic testing on diesel engines and related systems to identify performance or safety concerns.
  • Inspect and service brakes, tires, and lubrication points, including lube and grease work.
  • Help with engine repairs and adjustments to ensure reliable and safe operation.
  • Assist with fabrication tasks as needed to support repairs and modifications on equipment.
  • Follow established safety procedures and contribute to a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
  • Document work performed and communicate any issues or concerns to tenured technicians or supervisors.
  • Support off-shift operations by being reliable, punctual, and willing to learn new tasks as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical aptitude with a strong interest in diesel engines and heavy equipment.
  • Willingness to perform hands-on work, including basic mechanical and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Basic understanding of or interest in preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines consistently.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn from experienced technicians.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with diesel engines and diesel engine components.
  • Exposure to or interest in working on heavy equipment and trucks, including brands such as Peterbilt.
  • Experience or interest in diagnostic testing and using diagnostic tools.
  • Basic knowledge of brakes, tires, lubrication, and grease work.
  • Interest or experience in fabrication to support equipment repairs.
  • Pending or developing mechanical aptitude that can be enhanced through on-the-job training.

Work Environment

You will work in a nice, well-maintained shop environment focused on the maintenance and repair of diesel engines and heavy equipment. The role supports off-shift operations, so you may work non-traditional hours depending on scheduling needs. The shop emphasizes safety, organization, and proper use of tools and equipment, providing a structured setting where you can learn from experienced mechanics while performing hands-on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fabrication tasks.

Biggest need right now is on the 3rd Shift which is 11PM-8AM Sunday-Thursday. They are willing to pay someone what they are worth and have a nice compensation structure.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Rosemount, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $93600.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
