Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) – Travel Contract

Location: Spokane, WA
Pay: $30/hour
Start Date: October 19, 2026
Contract: 13 weeks
Schedule: 5x8-hour shifts | 2:00 PM–10:30 PM
Weekend: Every 4th weekend
Call: No call required
Charting: Epic
Parking: Free

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for a 13-week travel assignment at Providence Holy Family Hospital, a short-term acute care hospital and Level III Trauma Center. This position is ideal for experienced Sterile Processing Travelers with strong knowledge of surgical instrument processing, sterilization, decontamination, and operating room support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Decontamination and disinfection of surgical instruments and equipment
  • Manual cleaning and use of ultrasonic cleaners
  • Sterilization and monitoring of sterilization equipment
  • Proper assembly, organization, labeling, and wrapping of instrument trays
  • Use of washers and sterilizers
  • Biological and chemical indicator testing
  • Steris and Sterrad testing/monitoring
  • Flexible endoscope reprocessing
  • Processing surgical instruments and specialty equipment
  • Maintaining proper documentation and instrument tracking
  • Following aseptic technique and infection-control procedures
  • Processing sets and trays for surgical procedures

Specialty Experience:
Experience with multiple surgical specialties is preferred, including:

  • General Surgery
  • Orthopedics/Total Joints
  • Laparoscopic
  • Robotics
  • Urology
  • OB/GYN
  • ENT
  • Ophthalmology
  • Plastics
  • Cardiac
  • Vascular
  • Trauma
  • Transplant

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of Sterile Processing experience
  • 2 years of travel experience required
  • CBSPD or HSPA certification
  • Epic experience
  • Experience in an acute hospital/OR setting
  • Strong knowledge of sterilization, decontamination, and instrument processing
  • Experienced Sterile Processing Travelers only

Additional Information:

  • No call
  • No block schedule
  • Every 4th weekend required
  • 40 hours of facility orientation
  • Travelers may be expected to float to nearby sister facilities if needed
  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required
  • Local candidates may be considered
