GENERAL MANAGER SEARCH

Full-Service Hotel | Miami Beach, Florida

A well-established Miami Beach hotel is conducting a confidential search for an experienced,

highly hands-on General Manager with a proven track record in hotel turnarounds.

This opportunity requires more than traditional hotel management. We are seeking a leader who

has successfully stepped into challenging operating environments, quickly diagnosed

performance issues, established priorities, rebuilt accountability, improved service delivery, and

restored operational discipline.

The General Manager must be a highly visible operator who is directly engaged in the day-to-day

business of the hotel. This is not an administrative role but truly hands-on. The successful candidate

will spend significant time in the operation, walking guest rooms and public areas, inspecting

standards, engaging with guests and team members, addressing service and maintenance issues

in real time, and ensuring that agreed actions are completed.

Turnaround Mandate

The successful candidate will be expected to quickly assess the hotel’s operating environment

and develop a clear, prioritized action plan focused on stabilizing and improving performance.

Key priorities will include:

• Reestablishing strong operating standards and management accountability.

• Improving consistency across Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Guest Services,

and other operating departments.

• Strengthening guest satisfaction and service recovery.

• Improving cleanliness, room condition, public-area standards, and preventative

maintenance.

• Addressing recurring operational issues with urgency and follow-through.

• Evaluating the existing management structure and determining where coaching,

restructuring, or additional talent may be required.

• Improving labor productivity, scheduling, purchasing controls, and expense management.

• Establishing an effective daily operating routines, reporting, and follow-up.

• Rebuilding a culture of ownership, urgency, hospitality, and accountability.

• Working closely with ownership and corporate leadership to provide clear assessments,

measurable action plans, and regular progress updates.

Hands-On Leadership

The General Manager will be expected to maintain a strong presence throughout the hotel and

personally drive execution.

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting frequent property walks, guest room inspections, and operational audits.

• Personally engaging with guests and becoming involved in significant service-recovery

situations.

• Directly overseeing Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering, Guest Services, and other

operating functions.

• Ensuring operational deficiencies are identified quickly and corrected permanently.

• Holding department leaders accountable for service, productivity, staffing, cleanliness,

maintenance, and execution.

• Reviewing guest feedback and online reputation trends and converting that feedback into

specific operational actions.

• Maintaining close oversight of engineering, preventative maintenance, life safety, capital

needs, and overall property condition.

• Managing payroll, labor productivity, operating expenses, purchasing, and departmental

financial performance.

• Partnering with Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, and Distribution teams to

support occupancy, ADR, revenue generation, and overall hotel performance.

Candidate Profile

We are specifically seeking an experienced turnaround specialist who has successfully

improved performance at hotels facing operational, service, leadership, or physical-plant

challenges.

Ideal qualifications include:

• Significant General Manager, Hotel Manager, Director of Operations, or senior hotel

leadership experience.

• Demonstrated success taking over an underperforming or operationally challenged hotel

and producing measurable improvement.

• Strong Rooms Division and hotel operations background.

• Proven ability to quickly identify root causes rather than simply address symptoms.

• Experience rebuilding operating standards, management accountability, and team culture.

• Strong knowledge of Housekeeping, Front Office, Engineering, guest service, labor

management, and property standards.

• Strong understanding of hotel P&Ls, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, productivity, and

cost controls.

• Ability to balance immediate operational interventions with longer-term structural

improvements.

• Comfortable making difficult decisions and holding leaders accountable while

maintaining a professional and constructive leadership style.

• Experience working directly with ownership groups and senior corporate executives.

• Miami or Miami Beach experience is highly desirable.

• Experience with independent, resort, lifestyle, full-service, repositioning, or turnaround

hotel environments is strongly preferred.

This role is best suited for a leader who enjoys entering complex situations, establishing order

and accountability, and producing visible, measurable improvement in a relatively short period

of time.

All inquiries and applications will be handled on a strictly confidential basis.

Salary – $100,000 - $120,000 + Bonus + PTO
