Plant Maintenance & Reliability Manager Extrusion and Compounding About CT Polymers

A day in this role
Your morning begins with a walk-through of our plastic recycling and compounding lines, confirming that extrusion equipment is running to spec. You review the MaintainX dashboard, prioritize preventive work orders, and prepare the maintenance crew’s stand-upaligning on safety, uptime targets, and any overnight breakdowns. Midday brings a vendor call to negotiate a repair estimate, followed by a quick SOP update and a safety audit. You join Production and Safety meetings to align on KPIsutilization, efficiency, and scrap reductionthen wrap with budget tracking and notes for the monthly performance report to senior leadership.
What you’ll lead
- Team leadership and mentorship for a high-performing maintenance group; set expectations, coach, and evaluate results.
- End-to-end maintenance operations across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systemsrepair, installation, and calibration.
- Proactive reliability programs using MaintainX: predictive and preventive maintenance that maximizes output and minimizes downtime.
- Vendor and subcontractor oversight: source, select, and manage specialized partners; validate repair quotes and workmanship.
- Safety and compliance stewardship: drive OSHA adherence, perform risk assessments, and uphold a zero-accident mindset.
- Policy and documentation: develop and maintain SOPs and precise technical records.
- Financial ownership: manage the maintenance budget, control parts inventory, and procure equipment and supplies cost-effectively.
- Asset lifecycle management: coordinate decommissioning and compliant disposal of obsolete plant equipment.
- Cross-functional impact: collaborate with Manufacturing to meet KPI targets; participate in Production and Safety meetings.
- Strategic and quality governance: contribute to annual budgeting and strategic planning; support CT Polymers’ Quality Planning and the Quality Improvement Steering Committee.
- Reporting: track reliability metrics and communicate results and project status in comprehensive monthly reports to senior management.
What you bring
- 10+ years in manufacturingideally engineering plastics (recycling/compounding)with experience in ISO 9001 environments.
- Demonstrated success leading maintenance teams, allocating budgets, setting schedules, and delivering strategic reports.
- Hands-on mastery of extrusion processes and complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- 5+ years working directly with manufacturing systems and software; proficiency with MaintainX (or a comparable advanced CMMS) and strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Preferred education/credentials: degree in Manufacturing or Engineering, or a Millwright license/credential.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and presentation abilities; organized, detail-focused, and calm under pressure.
- Excellent attendance and a clean safety record.
- High mathematical aptitude, integrity with confidential information, and fluency in complex technical documentation.
