Position Summary

The Senior Accountant manages accounting activities for multiple branch locations, including account reconciliations, corporate accounting, the month-end close, budget vs. actual analysis, oversight of branch internal controls, and payroll processing and accounting. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Accounting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review journal entries
  • Process payroll and accurately record payroll activity in the general ledger
  • Reconcile accounts, summarize activity, and resolve reconciling differences
  • Understand the Balance Sheet and P&L, including how account activity affects them and how line items are classified
  • Analyze and clearly communicate operational performance
  • Partner with branch teams to help them understand their financial reports
  • Recommend improvements to processes, practices, and policies, and ensure branches follow key internal controls
  • Work across multiple legal entities, including intercompany journal entries
  • Support and help drive the decision-making process
  • Consistently strive to exceed goals and expectations
  • Contribute to a timely, accurate month-end close in compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Accounting
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Preferred

  • Public accounting experience and/or CPA
  • Experience with NetSuite
  • Experience with intercompany accounting
