Ready to lead a software teams that ships mission-critical work for the warfighter? DS2 is hiring a Department Manager to own delivery, client relationships, and the people behind the work. You will set the plan, staff the team, keep projects healthy, and coach engineers to grow. Responsibilities What you'll do:

  • Drive successful delivery for assigned projects, including scope, schedule, cost, and risk.
  • Own team financial performance: revenue, margin, project profitability, and utilization.
  • Staff the work forecast skills, allocate people, and shape hiring against the pipeline.
  • Build proposals, manage scope changes, and keep risk visible before it becomes a surprise.
  • Coach the team, support career growth, and keep retention and engagement high.
  • Communicate effectively both internally and externally, providing certainty and confidence to clients, project teams, and internal leadership.
  • Develop full-scale project plans, budgets, monitors, controls, and documents all project lifecycle phases.
  • Develop proposals for new and existing projects, perform risk analysis, and proactively manage changes in scope, while managing risk.
  • Be the client's trusted point of contact and keep internal leadership clear on status and decisions.

Required Qualifications We need someone who:

  • Has 10+ years of project or delivery management experience, including software work.
  • Has led Agile teams and can plan and execute across resources, scope, schedule, cost, and change.
  • Is comfortable operating with internal senior leadership teams.
  • Follows through on tasks, ensuring successful completion.
  • Can manage risk and explain the impact on cost, schedule, and contingency.
  • Customer focused – develops and maintains strong relationships, continuously strives to exceed expectations and providing value add opportunities.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal presentation skills.
  • Proven planning and execution experience that includes resources, scope, scheduling, cost, change management, performance management and communication.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications Bonus points if you:

  • Hold a PMP or equivalent delivery certification.
  • Have hands-on experience with Scrum, SAFe, or product management.
  • Have led software delivery for DoW or federal clients.
Salary Range
$120,000$150,000 USD
