Structural Steel CNC Operator

Location: Cocoa Beach, FL
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift
Pay: Up to $27.00/hour, depending on experience
2nd Shift Differential: +$3.00/hour

Position Overview

We are looking for a CNC operator with experience in structural steel fabrication to run and monitor automated cutting, drilling, and processing equipment. The ideal candidate can work from measurements and drawings, safely handle steel materials, and operate overhead cranes.

Equipment Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is required:

  • Kinetic Plasma Table
  • Peddinghaus Saw/Drill Line
  • Peddinghaus Angle Master
  • Ficep Beamline
Responsibilities
  • Set up machine controls and select appropriate operating settings.
  • Choose the correct steel material, stock size, and dimensions for each job.
  • Measure material and verify it meets required specifications.
  • Apply or transfer required part information and markings to steel components.
  • Monitor CNC equipment during production and make adjustments as needed.
  • Complete routine preventative maintenance and assist with troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Track daily production activities and material usage accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Safely move and position materials using overhead cranes and material transfer/convey systems.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience operating a CNC plasma table or performing sawing, drilling, or cutting operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, symbols, and fabrication notes is preferred.
  • Able to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16 inch.
  • Comfortable performing basic mathematical calculations.
  • Experience with Tekla PowerFab is preferred.
  • Able to safely operate overhead cranes and material-handling equipment.
  • Able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in both hot and cold shop environments.
