Interim Associate Director, Benefits (6–9 Month Contract)
Location: Hybrid (2–3 days/week onsite in Bedford, MA)
Pay Rate: $70.00 – $90.00/hour
Commitment: 40 hours/week preferred (Open to part-time/flexible arrangements for the right candidate)
Duration: 6–9 Months (LOA Coverage / Immediate Start)
About the RoleAre you an experienced Benefits Leader looking for your next impactful contract assignment? We are seeking an Interim Associate Director, Benefits to step in immediately and guide our team through our upcoming Open Enrollment season and critical benefit initiatives.
This role is a blend of high-level project leadership and hands-on operational execution. You will partner closely with key internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure seamless delivery, maintain compliance, and provide high-touch support to our employees across medical, retirement, and supplemental plans.
What We’re Looking ForProven Track Record: Deep experience leading end-to-end Open Enrollment cycles and managing comprehensive benefits administration.
Scale Experience: Direct experience supporting mid-to-large enterprises (1,000+ employees preferred).
Plan & Regulatory Knowledge: Solid background with retirement plans, deferred compensation, and federal/state benefit compliance.
Strategic & Tactical Flexibility: Ability to shift effortlessly between strategic planning and hands-on execution.
Project Leadership: Exceptional project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
Industry Experience: Experience in the Life Sciences sector is a plus, but not required!

Key Responsibilities
Lead Open Enrollment: Drive end-to-end OE planning, vendor alignment, timeline management, communications, and issue resolution for a smooth employee experience.
Benefits Management: Oversee operations for health & welfare, 401(k), and deferred compensation plans.
Strategic Partnering: Support benefit renewals, benchmarking, and market competitive analysis to keep our offerings robust.
Vendor & Compliance Leadership: Manage external plan administrators and ensure all programs adhere to federal, state, and ERISA regulations.
Employee Experience & Operations: Act as a key point of contact for complex employee escalations while stepping into day-to-day operations during peak periods.
