Job Description
Addison Group is seeking three Legal Interns for Summer 2027 on behalf of our client. This is an excellent opportunity for a current law student to gain hands-on exposure to a variety of legal matters while working alongside an experienced legal team.
The Legal Interns will assist with substantive legal projects as well as document management, research, writing, and other administrative activities. The ideal candidate will have strong research and writing abilities, excellent attention to detail, and an interest in intellectual property, contracts, financial services, or corporate law.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with intellectual property matters, including researching and organizing trademark and copyright materials and reviewing licensing documentation.
- Support attorneys with reviewing a variety of business agreements, including statements of work, service agreements, confidentiality agreements, and contract amendments.
- Conduct legal research involving federal and state legislation, regulations, and other legal developments and help summarize findings for internal and external publications.
- Research legal and regulatory topics to support the development and revision of organizational policies.
- Monitor state legislative and regulatory activity and assist with preparing summaries, charts, presentations, and other briefing materials.
- Assist with document review, editing, filing, database maintenance, presentations, and other legal department projects as needed.
- Apply strong research, writing, and analytical skills to support attorneys across multiple substantive areas.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited law school and pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) or comparable advanced law degree.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Previous internship, coursework, or experience involving legal research, legal writing, contracts, intellectual property, or related areas is preferred.
- Strong interest in intellectual property, contracts, corporate law, financial services, or regulatory matters.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to research legal and business topics and clearly summarize findings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 is required.
- Experience with contract management, intellectual property, or legal research platforms is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with attorneys, internal teams, and external contacts.
- Comfortable working with databases, electronic records, and other business systems.
Additional Details
- This is a temporary summer internship running from June 14, 2027 through August 13, 2027.
- The expected schedule is approximately 15–20 hours per week.
- This position follows a hybrid schedule requiring two days onsite each week, with Wednesdays being mandatory.
- Candidates must be able to work onsite in Washington, DC and accommodate the required Wednesday schedule.
- The interview process will consist of one panel interview with members of the legal team.
- At least two professional references, including a current or former supervisor, may be requested.
