Job Title: 3rd Shift Chocolate Production Operator

Job Description

This role focuses on producing chocolate used across all product lines by operating production equipment, handling ingredients, and maintaining accurate production records during the 3rd shift. You will work in a highly manual environment that requires consistent heavy lifting, attention to detail, and adherence to quality and sanitation standards while collaborating closely with a small team.

Responsibilities

  • Produce chocolate according to established recipes and procedures, ensuring consistency and quality in every batch.
  • Request required ingredients from the warehouse and verify that the correct materials and quantities are received.
  • Add ingredients such as oil, butter, sugar, and other components into refiners, mixers, silos, and related equipment in the proper sequence and amounts.
  • Monitor scales and tanks to ensure they are filled to the correct capacity and adjust as needed to maintain accurate measurements.
  • Cut and open bags of ingredients safely and load them into production equipment while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Perform consistent lifting, moving, and palletizing of boxes and bags weighing between 35 and 50 pounds throughout the shift.
  • Complete accurate data entry and data collection on paper production sheets for auditing and quality control purposes.
  • Follow written instructions and production documentation carefully to meet product specifications and operational standards.
  • Support sanitation activities by cleaning equipment, tools, and work areas in accordance with company and food safety requirements.
  • Work effectively as part of a two-person team, coordinating tasks and communicating clearly to maintain smooth production flow.
  • Adhere to quality assurance and quality control procedures, including checking product specifications and reporting any issues.
  • Operate an electric pallet jack to move materials and finished products safely within the production area.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and safe handling of equipment and materials.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to consistently lift and move boxes or bags weighing 35 to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
  • Ability to read and write clearly to complete production sheets and follow written instructions accurately.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small team environment.
  • Comfort working in a very manual, physically demanding role that involves repetitive lifting and palletizing.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate ingredient measurements, data entry, and documentation for audits.
  • Willingness to perform sanitation tasks and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Ability to monitor scales, tanks, and production equipment and respond appropriately to measurements and indicators.
  • Basic proficiency in data entry and recording production information on paper forms.
  • Comfort working at heights appropriate for operating the machine and handling bags positioned higher up.
  • Reliability in working a 3rd shift schedule from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday.

Work Environment

This is a 3rd shift position with hours from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday. The role is highly manual and physically intensive, involving continuous lifting of 35 to 50 pound boxes and bags, as well as palletizing and operating an electric pallet jack. The production facility primarily smells like chocolate and sweets, creating a distinctive food manufacturing environment. Temperatures vary by room: the depo room is maintained at a comfortable room temperature, the panning room runs slightly cooler than room temperature but is not refrigerated, and the refining room runs warmer and can reach up to approximately 95 degrees in the summer. The facility is clean, well laid out, and designed for efficient workflow. Employees have access to a nice break room and designated areas both inside and outside to take breaks and rest between tasks.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Union City, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $23.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
