The Material Handler safely moves, kits, and prepares products for shipment within a large aerospace manufacturing environment. This role focuses on accurate verification of paperwork and work orders, adherence to shipping instructions, and efficient use of a sit-down forklift to handle materials and support warehouse operations.

Responsibilities
  • Verify paperwork, work orders, and shipping instructions to ensure accuracy before processing materials.
  • Kit materials according to work orders and production or shipping requirements.
  • Move product safely and efficiently using a sit-down forklift and other material handling methods.
  • Perform shipping and receiving activities, including checking incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Pick, pack, and palletize products and boxes for shipment and internal movement.
  • Load and unload trucks while maintaining safe handling practices.
  • Use a computer to enter, update, and verify material, shipping, and inventory information.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and other departments to coordinate material flow.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the warehouse and production support zones.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies while operating forklifts and handling materials.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency using a computer for data entry, documentation, and basic system navigation.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, including reading and writing to interpret work orders and shipping instructions.
  • Ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely, with preferred 2 years of forklift experience.
  • Experience with material handling in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform shipping and receiving tasks, including loading and unloading trucks.
  • Capability to stand for the duration of the shift and perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and packing materials.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with palletizing products and preparing boxes for shipment.
  • Background in picking, packing, and packaging in a warehouse setting.
  • Experience working as a warehouse worker or in a similar logistics role.
  • Ability to train as a forklift operator if not already certified.
  • Interest in gaining aerospace material handling experience.
  • Familiarity with sit-down forklift operations in a production or manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

This position is based within a large aerospace manufacturing facility and supports both warehouse and production operations. The role involves working on-site in a busy industrial environment where you may be required to stand for the entire shift and perform hands-on material handling tasks. Typical schedules include Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., depending on assignment. The environment includes regular use of sit-down forklifts, palletizing equipment, and standard warehouse tools, with a focus on safe movement of materials and adherence to established procedures. No vision test is required for this kitting-focused role.

This is a Contract position based out of Middletown, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.41 - $23.41/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
