Hands-On Laboratory / Engineering Technician – Onsite
Seeking a hands-on technician to support the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of prototype laboratory systems in an R&D environment. The role will work closely with engineers, scientists, and senior technicians on electrical and mechanical assemblies, vacuum and gas-handling systems, and
cryogenic equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and configure prototype electrical and mechanical systems.
- Set up vacuum and gas-handling systems using CF, KF, NPT, and VCR fittings.
- Wire assemblies and build test cables.
- Operate and troubleshoot test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, temperature measurement equipment, vacuum pumps, and gauges.
- Troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on compressors, scroll vacuum pumps, and turbomolecular pumps.
- Work with chilled water and liquefied gas systems while following strict safety procedures.
- Support engineers and scientists with testing, troubleshooting, and project deliverables.
- Maintain laboratory organization, documentation, and 5S standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4–6 years of relevant hands-on technical experience.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with laboratory, vacuum, cryogenic, or test systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently and safely in a hands-on R&D environment.
Nice to Have:
- R&D laboratory experience.
- SOP/documentation development.
- LabVIEW and/or Python experience.
- Experience troubleshooting DR systems.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
