First Resources Corp has seven Direct Support Professional openings in Sigourney, most of them in one of our higher-support homes. If you have experience with complex support needs, or you want to learn from experienced teammates in a role where your work clearly matters, this is a strong place to build a career in direct care. Schedules run from standard day and evening shifts to long overnight shifts and a 24-hour weekend shift, so there is room to match your life.

Shifts available

• Days, full-time: 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on a rotating two-week schedule with every other weekend off

• Evenings, full-time: 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the same rotating schedule

• Extended shifts, full-time: Tuesdays and Fridays from 3 p.m. until 9 a.m. the next morning, plus a Saturday-to-Sunday shift every other week. Overnights are paid sleep shifts.

• Extended shifts, part-time: Wednesday 3 p.m. to Thursday 9 a.m., with a Friday or Saturday extended shift added on a two-week rotation

• 24-hour weekend shift, part-time, in a separate Sigourney home: Saturday 11 a.m. to Sunday 11 a.m. every week

What you'll do

• Provide hands-on support with personal care, mobility, meals, and daily routines

• Follow each person's support plan and safety guidelines closely

• Document care and give clear handoffs to the next shift

• Work alongside experienced teammates. Paid training with experienced staff.

What you'll bring

• Steadiness, patience, and strong teamwork

• Comfort with personal care (training provided)

• The ability to pass background checks

• High school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license

High needs site: Pay: $15 per hour. High-support differential +$2 to base, Weekend shift differential +$3 to base

Low needs site: Pay $13-$15 per hour. Weekend shift differential +$.50

Qualifications/Requirements:

• High school education or equivalent; experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
• Must possess bask knowledge of computers and computer-based programs.
• Satisfactory results on background checks pertaining to criminal and abuse registries.
• Able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds without restrictions.
• Successfully complete all new hire orientation checklist.
• Satisfactory attend all required trainings by agency.
• Successfully complete the established medication administration training and observe pass medications accordingly.
• Must have access to a telephone.
• Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and personal auto insurance as required by the State of Iowa and be insurable under the company’s insurance.
