Machine Operator

As a Mill Operator, you will be responsible for cleaning and removing products from floors and placing them into bins. You will also be tasked with dumping products on the 7th floor into the silo. Your role involves making mill rounds to manage the setup and arrangement of equipment to ensure proper operation and performance. You will need to demonstrate your ability to read, assess, troubleshoot, and adjust mill flow, while maintaining a good understanding of all other flows and flow sheets within the mill. Your task will be to monitor and regulate production parameters to ensure that the controlled process is kept at peak efficiency.

• Clean and remove products from floors and place them into bins.
• Dump products on the 7th floor into the silo.
• Make mill rounds to manage the setup and arrangement of equipment.
• Read, assess, troubleshoot, and adjust mill flow.
• Understand all flows and flow sheets within the mill.
• Monitor and regulate production parameters for peak efficiency.

• 1+ years of previous work experience in production or food manufacturing.
• General working knowledge of computers.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable standing for the entire shift.
• Ability to work in a very warm environment.

• Previous experience in a mill is preferred.
• General labor skills.
• General computer knowledge.

The work environment is very warm, averaging 80 degrees and sometimes reaching upwards of 100 degrees. There is an air-conditioned control room where employees spend about 30-40% of their time, but comfort with high temperatures is necessary. The dress code includes jeans or work pants, boots, and no jewelry. Shift hours are from 7am to 7pm following a rotation of 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, IA.

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Ames,IA.
