Responsibilities

The Senior Salesforce Developer serves as a key member of the Salesforce development team, responsible for the design, development, integration, and optimization of solutions across the Salesforce platform. This role partners closely with business leaders, operational stakeholders, Salesforce administrators, analysts, and technology teams to translate requirements into robust, well-tested Apex, Lightning, and declarative solutions. Experience integrating Salesforce with external systems via MuleSoft is a strong plus, as our roadmap includes expanding our integration architecture.

The Senior Salesforce Developer is responsible for the full software development lifecycle, including solution design, application development, integration architecture, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. Beyond development responsibilities, this individual provides technical leadership, establishes development standards, mentors team members, and helps shape the future direction of InnovAge's Salesforce ecosystem.

Success in this role requires a strong balance of technical expertise, business acumen, problem-solving capability, and collaboration.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable writing code, designing integrations, influencing stakeholders, and identifying innovative solutions that improve operational effectiveness and deliver measurable business value.

  • Lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support of Salesforce solutions across the organization.
  • Translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions that improve operational efficiency, user experience, and business outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain custom Salesforce functionality utilizing Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Visualforce, Flows, and related platform technologies.
  • Ensure solutions follow established development standards, security requirements, and Salesforce best practices.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and proactively address application issues, defects, and performance concerns.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to prioritize enhancements, technical debt, and platform investments.
  • Establish development standards, coding practices, release management processes, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to developers, administrators, and technical team members.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, innovation, and process improvement across business functions.
  • Stay current on Salesforce platform capabilities and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement.

  • Design, develop, and maintain integrations between Salesforce and enterprise applications utilizing APIs, middleware, and integration platforms.
  • Support integration architecture and data exchange strategies that improve reliability, scalability, and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with enterprise technology teams to optimize system connectivity and information flow across the organization.
  • Evaluate and recommend technical solutions that support future business growth and platform maturity.
  • Maintain a strong focus on security, compliance, governance, and data quality standards.

Functional Category: Support, Training & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Build strong partnerships with business leaders to ensure technology solutions align with operational objectives.
  • Support user adoption through training, documentation, and ongoing system enhancements.
  • Participate in project planning, solution design sessions, and organizational initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to stakeholders regarding solution capabilities, risks, and best practices.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex Salesforce-related issues and enhancement requests.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Three to Five (3-5)+ years of Salesforce development experience with demonstrated success delivering complex business solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in Apex, SOQL/SOSL, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and Visualforce
  • Experience with declarative development tools (Flow, Process Builder, Validation Rules)
  • Solid understanding of Salesforce data model, security model (profiles, permission sets, sharing rules), and governor limits
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and deployment tools (SFDX, Gearset, Copado, or similar)
  • Familiarity with REST/SOAP API integrations
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred
