Fire Alarm Foreman – Heavy Industrial | C-11 Qualifying Party Preferred | Scissor Lift Experience
Position Overview
Koala Design & Build LLC is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Foreman for a large scale heavy industrial construction project in Phoenix. Reporting to the Superintendent, you will lead a crew performing conduit and raceway installation, technical support and attachment installation, wire pulling, device mounting, and low voltage terminations.
Prior heavy industrial installation experience is required. Candidates must be comfortable working from detailed construction documents and installing supports, hangers, anchors, and attachment assemblies where substrate conditions, structural restrictions, loading, and installation tolerances require careful attention. Experience limited to residential or light commercial alarm installation does not meet this position’s requirements.
The scope is low voltage fire alarm installation. It does not include sprinkler piping or wet suppression systems.
Additional Required Skills and Responsibilities
- Interpret approved support details, anchorage schedules, structural attachment requirements, specifications, and manufacturer installation instructions.
- Lay out and install conduit racks, strut assemblies, trapeze supports, threaded rod, clamps, and approved anchors appropriate to the assigned scope.
- Verify attachment locations, substrate conditions, anchor type, embedment, spacing, edge distances, and installation torque against approved details and manufacturer requirements.
- Follow project procedures for scanning, drilling authorization, and inspection before attaching to concrete or structural members.
- Recognize prohibited attachment locations and obtain clarification before drilling, welding, cutting, or modifying structural elements.
- Escalate missing details or field conflicts to the Superintendent. Do not substitute anchors, relocate attachment points, or modify support assemblies without required approval.
- Coordinate overhead installation with congested mechanical, electrical, process piping, and other building systems.
- Maintain required anchorage inspection records and installation documentation.
- Plan safe elevated work, including scissor lift access and coordination with nearby trades.
Required Experience
- At least five years of commercial or industrial fire alarm installation, including direct heavy industrial experience.
- At least two years leading installation crews.
- Demonstrated experience installing technical supports and attachments on semiconductor, manufacturing, process facilities, data centers, or comparable complex projects.
- Strong conduit installation, wire-pulling, drawing-reading, and low-voltage termination skills.
- Familiarity with multiple fire alarm panel platforms and their installation requirements.
- Scissor lift experience and documented operator training preferred.
Additional Screening Question
Describe a heavy industrial project where you personally installed or supervised conduit supports, hangers, and structural attachments. What substrates and attachment systems were involved, how did you verify the approved installation requirements, and what did you do when field conditions differed from the drawings?
