Direct Support Professional (Community Supports)

City: Centerville, IA · Type: Part-time · Openings: 1 · Pay field: $13 to $16 per hour

This part-time Direct Support Professional role in Centerville is built around afternoons and evenings, Monday to Friday, and averages about 32 hours a week. Mornings stay free for school drop-off, classes, or another job. You'll support adults with disabilities in their homes and in a community home, helping with the routines that make evenings calm and comfortable.

Typical week

• Monday: 12:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

• Tuesday: 12:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

• Wednesday: 2:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

• Thursday: 2:45 p.m. to 7 p.m.

• Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., then 8 p.m. to midnight

• Hours may adjust as the needs of the people you support change

What you'll do

• Provide hourly in-home support, including meals, errands, and skill building

• Support evening routines at a community home

• Assist with personal care when needed and keep clear notes

What you'll bring

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

• The ability to pass background checks

Pay: $13 to $16 per hour.

Requirements:

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent; experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
  • Must possess bask knowledge of computers and computer-based programs.
  • Satisfactory results on background checks pertaining to criminal and abuse registries.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds without restrictions.
  • Successfully complete all new hire orientation checklist.
  • Satisfactory attend all required trainings by agency.
  • Successfully complete the established medication administration training and observe pass medications accordingly.
  • Must have access to a telephone.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and personal auto insurance as required by the State of Iowa and be insurable under the company’s insurance.
