Plumbers Apprentice

Dr Drain

Boulder, CO • $17.00 to $22.00 / hr • 10/7/2026

Job Description

Job Description

Dr. Drain is looking for a dependable, hardworking apprentice who wants to learn the plumbing and drain-cleaning trade while working in the field.

This is a hands-on position. You’ll learn plumbing, drain cleaning, sewer and water-line work, excavation, repairs, and troubleshooting while also handling the everyday work that keeps jobs moving.

Some days you'll be learning directly alongside an experienced plumber. Other days you'll be digging, hauling material, cleaning up a jobsite, picking up parts, loading equipment, or taking care of whatever needs to get done.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with residential and light commercial plumbing repairs and installations
  • Learn plumbing systems, fittings, materials, tools, and proper installation methods
  • Learn drain and sewer cleaning using professional drain-cleaning equipment
  • Assist with sewer camera inspections and locating
  • Help with sewer, water, and underground utility repairs
  • Dig and backfill trenches and excavation pits by hand and with equipment when trained
  • Break and remove concrete, dirt, asphalt, roots, and other materials
  • Load, unload, organize, clean, and maintain tools and equipment
  • Set up and clean up jobsites
  • Pick up parts and materials from supply houses
  • Deliver tools, equipment, or materials between jobs when needed
  • Keep trucks, trailers, equipment, and work areas clean and organized
  • Assist plumbers and technicians with whatever is needed to complete jobs safely and efficiently
  • Perform general labor and other shop, field, and company errands as needed

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Wants to learn a skilled trade
  • Shows up on time and ready to work
  • Is dependable and follows through
  • Isn't afraid to get dirty
  • Can handle physical work, digging, lifting, carrying, and working outdoors
  • Can take direction and learn from experienced technicians
  • Takes care of company tools, trucks, and equipment
  • Has a valid driver's license and a good driving record
  • Can work independently once trained
  • Has a good attitude and is willing to help wherever needed

Plumbing or construction experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right person.

What You'll Learn

This isn't just a general labor position. Someone who works hard and wants to learn can develop real skills in:

Plumbing • Drain Cleaning • Sewer Repair • Water Lines • Excavation • Sewer Cameras & Locating • Underground Utilities • Equipment Operation • Troubleshooting

Our goal is to give the right person increasing responsibility as their skills and experience grow.

The Right Person

This job is a good fit for someone who doesn't need every day to look the same.

You might spend the morning helping repair a plumbing system, the afternoon digging up a sewer line, and finish the day picking up material or cleaning and organizing equipment for tomorrow's job.

If your attitude is, "Tell me what needs to get done and I'll take care of it," you'll probably fit in well here.
