Assembler/Fitter
Automation Personnel Services is looking for an Assembler/Fitterfor a steel tube manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN. In this role, you will fit, align, position, and assemble steel components in preparation for welding and final fabrication while ensuring quality, accuracy, and safety standards are met.
Pay Rate
$23.00 - $30.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Schedule and Hours
Monday through Friday
Available shifts:
- 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
- 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
- 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Assembler/Fitter Duties and Responsibilities
- Fit, align, and assemble steel plates and structural components according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and work orders.
- Measure, mark, and verify dimensions, angles, and component placement.
- Position and secure components using clamps, jigs, fixtures, and fitting tools.
- Check assemblies for dimensional accuracy, alignment, and proper fit-up.
- Grind, bevel, clean, and prepare materials for welding operations.
- Perform tack welding when qualified and authorized.
- Inspect materials and components for defects or discrepancies before assembly.
- Assist with moving and positioning materials using approved material-handling equipment.
- Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures.
Assembler/Fitter Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience as a fitter, assembler, fabricator, or similar manufacturing professional preferred.
- Experience working with structural steel, heavy plate, or fabricated metal products preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
- Strong understanding of measurements, dimensions, and production tolerances.
- Ability to accurately read tape measures and use precision measuring tools.
- Experience using grinders and common fabrication tools.
- Tack welding, rigging, or overhead crane experience is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a quality-focused manufacturing environment.
