Insight Global's client is seeking a Lead Data Center Project Engineer to support the Rapid Data Center Deployment (RDD) Team. They will be responsible for delivering infrastructure for hyperscale and AI data center environments across the country. This is a highly travel-oriented role that requires a blend of technical expertise, field leadership, and project execution. Engineers will be deployed to Data Center sites for extended periods and will play a critical role in accelerating large-scale data center buildouts. This role will require 90% travel, and candidates must be available to travel for weeks at a time.

The ideal candidate has experience with structured cabling, rack-and-stack deployments, network infrastructure installation, fiber/cooper, and leading field teams in fast-paced mission-critical environments.

Day to Day:

Physical Infrastructure work (60-70% of time)

  • Lead and perform structured cabling and rack-and-stack deployments within hyperscale and AI data centers.
  • Install, route, terminate, label, and test fiber optic and copper cabling infrastructure.
  • Support network hardware installation, including switches, servers, and related data center equipment.
  • Ensure proper cable management, equipment labeling, asset tracking, and documentation standards are maintained.
  • Execute infrastructure deployment activities while adhering to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot installation issues and coordinate with engineering and operations teams to resolve technical challenges.

Field Leadership – (30-40% of time)

  • Act as a field leader and serve as a point of contact for internal stakeholders, customers, and project teams.
  • Coordinate deployment schedules, resources, and daily project activities to ensure successful execution.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Lead project meetings, communicate status updates, and proactively address risks and obstacles.
  • Assist with workforce planning, onboarding, and training of new team members.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer requirements.

Compensation:
$67.00 - 70.00/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law. This role will require 90% travel, and candidates must be available to travel for weeks at a time.
