Overhead Crane Operator
Automation Personnel Services is looking for an Overhead Crane Operator for a steel tube manufacturing facility in Memphis, TN. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support a growing manufacturing operation while working with advanced equipment and playing a key role in the movement and staging of steel materials throughout the production process.
Pay Rate
$20.00 - $26.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Schedule and Hours
Monday through Friday
Available shifts:
- 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
- 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
- 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Overhead Crane Operator Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely operate overhead cranes, hoists, and material-handling equipment to move steel products throughout the facility.
- Load, unload, transport, and stage steel tubes, plate, and fabricated components.
- Supply materials to production departments to support daily manufacturing operations.
- Select and inspect slings, chains, hooks, and other rigging equipment before use.
- Secure, balance, and position loads properlywhile maintaining safe load control.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections of cranes and related equipment and report safety concerns.
- Verify and deliver materials to designated work areas according to production requirements.
- Assist with inventory movement, material organization, and storage activities.
- Work closely with production teams to support fabrication, welding, and manufacturing processes.
- Follow all safety, PPE, material-handling, and workplace procedures.
Overhead Crane Operator Qualifications and Requirements- Previous overhead crane experience in a manufacturing, steel, warehouse, or industrial environment preferred.
- Knowledge of safe rigging practices and lifting procedures.
- Ability to use chains, slings, hooks, clamps, and other lifting devices safely.
- Understanding of load capacities, weight limits, and load-balancing techniques.
- Ability to inspect cranes, rigging equipment, and lifting devices for safety concerns.
- Ability to read work orders, material tags, and production documentation.
- Forklift experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Able to adapt in a high-volume manufacturing setting while supporting multiple production areas.
