We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support a broad range of core accounting activities in Austin, Texas. This permanent role contributes to the accuracy of financial records, supports reporting and reconciliations, and helps maintain smooth day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate brings solid accounting experience, strong technical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining compliance with established policies and financial standards.

Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounting activities related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing support, collections, and general ledger upkeep.
• Monitor cash activity by assisting with deposits, transfers, investment tracking, and adherence to internal financial controls and collateral requirements.
• Maintain accurate records for customer deposits and perform regular balancing to ensure account integrity.
• Prepare required tax and vendor documentation, including W-9 and 1099 reporting, while keeping supporting records organized and current.
• Review invoices for proper coding, process payments on schedule, and verify that expenditures are recorded correctly.
• Reconcile financial activity such as tax receipts, bank transactions, customer deposits, utility revenues, impact fees, and other assigned accounts each month.
• Record and review journal entries and general ledger transactions to support monthly and year-end financial reporting.
• Contribute to the preparation of budgets, monthly financial statements, aging reports, and other detailed accounting analyses for management review.
• Support annual audit activities by compiling documentation, responding to information requests, reviewing reconciliations, and assisting with audit-related adjustments.
• Provide responsive internal and external customer support and serve as backup coverage across accounting functions as needed.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline; relevant experience may substitute for up to two years of education.
• Three to five years of accounting or finance experience in a hands-on accounting environment.
• Experience handling core accounting processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.
• Knowledge of governmental fund accounting practices and familiarity with financial recordkeeping in a regulated environment.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing applications, accounting software, and database systems.
• Ability to prepare and review tax-related documentation, including corporate tax reporting elements, sales tax support, and information return processing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to stay organized and manage deadlines effectively.
