Job Summary:

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the plant from Sales order entry and manufacturing to delivery and logistics according to our policies and procedures. This role also requires the candidate to evaluate, understand and further develop processes with the regional teams in order to improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency, while minimizing costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed customer expectations.
  • Increase production, asset capacity, and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.
  • Create a strong and trusting relationship with all work groups to facilitate recruitment, management, and the development of plant staff.
  • Through data collection and analysis, generate continuous improvement plans to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Commit to plant safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets.
  • Address employee issues or grievances in conjunction with the HR organization.
  • Stay up to date with the latest production management best practices and concepts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar related field.
  • Proven work experience as a Plant Manager, Manufacturing Manager or a similar role required.
  • 7+ years in a manufacturing leadership role at a High Mix – Low Volume manufacturing site required.
  • In-depth knowledge of production management, lean manufacturing, and quality control systems.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise in the corrugate, foam and crating industry is a plus.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily based in a manufacturing facility with exposure to industrial equipment and processes.
  • May require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting.
  • Regular work hours with occasional extended shifts or weekend work as needed.
  • Multi-lingual English/Spanish highly preferred.
