Technical Trainer / Instructional Designer

Location: Boston, MA
Duration: 6 Months
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Onsite Requirement: 3 days/week onsite, 2 days/week remote

Position Overview

The Technical Trainer / Instructional Designer will play a key role in designing and developing engaging, effective, and scalable learning solutions. This position will analyze learning needs, collaborate with subject matter experts, and create instructional materials aligned with organizational goals and project deliverables.

The ideal candidate will apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to develop high-quality eLearning and blended learning programs, primarily using Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise) and Camtasia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine and implement learning strategies and programs, including blended learning approaches, to meet evolving workforce needs.
  • Develop learning solutions through:
    • In-person training
    • Virtual instructor-led training
    • Video-based eLearning
    • Microlearning
    • Self-paced learning modules
  • Design and develop instructional materials, including:
    • eLearning modules
    • Training videos
    • Curricula
    • Supporting documentation
    • Detailed instructional storyboards
  • Conduct training needs analysis and translate requirements into effective learning solutions.
  • Ensure training programs and materials follow established standards, style guides, templates, and organizational requirements.
  • Independently manage multiple training projects across different client groups while meeting project timelines and quality expectations.
  • Perform editing, quality assurance, proofreading, and consistency checks for training deliverables and communications.
  • Apply adult learning principles and rapid instructional design methodologies to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Tailor learning solutions to different audiences, learning preferences, and business requirements.
  • Apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to proactively identify and resolve challenges.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders throughout the instructional design and development lifecycle.
  • Ensure training programs reinforce organizational branding, templates, cultural values, and a strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Stay current with learning technologies, instructional strategies, and emerging trends in training and development.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of instructional design experience.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Adult learning principles
    • Online learning
    • Rapid instructional design methodologies
    • Curriculum development
    • Training needs analysis
    • eLearning development
  • Hands-on proficiency with Articulate 360, including:
    • Storyline
    • Rise
  • Proficiency with Camtasia for video and learning content development.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop training solutions from needs analysis through delivery and evaluation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including:
    • Excel
    • Word
    • Outlook
    • Project
    • PowerPoint
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a matrixed and hybrid environment.
  • Excellent writing, editing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex information in a concise, clear, and solution-focused manner.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships across multiple departments and organizational levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and reprioritize work based on changing project requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly analyze information, develop curriculum outlines, and create training content aligned with learning objectives.
  • Current knowledge of instructional design technologies, learning strategies, and trends in training program development.
