Job Title: Assembler

Job Description

The Assembler builds truck bodies and vehicle cabs by following blueprints and detailed work instructions. This role involves assembling pre-fabricated parts using hand tools and power tools, positioning and fastening structural components, and ensuring each vehicle meets quality and safety standards in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and work instructions to understand assembly specifications and requirements.
  • Position precut frame members, purchased parts, and other components accurately to assemble walls, floors, cabs, shelving, and roof frames.
  • Assemble body subassemblies such as cabs, side frames, floors, doors, hoods, and related structures to build complete vehicle bodies and truck cabs.
  • Bolt, screw, clip, rivet, or otherwise fasten parts together to form subassemblies, including doors, seats, and instrument control panels.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete mechanical and electrical assembly tasks.
  • Perform wiring and installation assembly as required for vehicle components and systems.
  • Measure and verify components using a tape measure to ensure accurate fit and alignment.
  • Work on an assembly line and maintain pace with production takt time of approximately 40 minutes per vehicle.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with team members and support continuous improvement in production processes.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods and handling components, while using assistive devices for lifts over 30 lbs.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with general labor or general production in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Mechanical and electrical assembly experience.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, layouts, and written work instructions.
  • Proficiency using hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
  • Comfort working on an assembly line and maintaining a steady production pace.
  • Capability to perform physical work, including standing for long periods and handling parts, with no more than 30 lbs lifted without assist.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow standardized processes and safety procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • in wiring, installation assembly, or related trades.
  • Experience in construction, landscaping, manufacturing, retail, stocking, or cook prep roles.
  • Familiarity with automotive or truck body manufacturing environments.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and participate in on-the-job training.
  • Ability to work effectively in a loud, fast-paced production setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in an automotive manufacturing facility that is climate controlled and kept at or below 78 degrees, providing a comfortable and clean work setting. The production floor is loud and fast paced, with a takt time of approximately 40 minutes per vehicle, requiring employees to maintain a steady and consistent work rhythm. The position is physically demanding, though no more than 30 lbs is lifted without assistance, and appropriate tools and equipment are available to support safe handling of heavier components. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with frequent overtime opportunities. Employees work with a variety of hand tools, power tools, and automated equipment as part of a modern, high-volume truck and vehicle body manufacturing operation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loudon, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
