CNC Programmer – Precision Grinding & Machining
NEWLY CREATED POSITION to be part of a team of 4 current.
Location: Blue Ash, Ohio (Supporting Plant 2)
Pay: Market-Leading Salaried Role + Comprehensive Benefits & Growth
Job Type: Full-Time, In-Person
Industry: Aerospace, Defense, Space & Energy Manufacturing
Why Join Superalloy Manufacturing Solutions Corporation?
With over 40 years of precision manufacturing excellence, Superalloy Manufacturing Solutions Corporation is a trusted partner to global aerospace and defense leaders, including GE Aerospace, Siemens, Rolls-Royce, Aerojet Rocketdyne, and UTC Aerospace. Operating across 175,000+ square feet of facility space, we specialize in hard-metal flight-critical componentsincluding blisks, IBRs, blades, vanes, structural shafts, and disc assembliesusing state-of-the-art multi-axis CNC machining, grinding, and Electro-Chemical Machining (ECM) technologies.
As we expand our Plant 2 operations in Blue Ash, Ohio, we are looking for a skilled CNC Programmer to step into a key role.
What Makes This Role Unique:
- Subject Matter Leader: You will join an established team of 4 CNC programmers. While the existing team excels in milling/turning, you will be the lead technical subject matter expert for precision grinding operations.
- Grinding Specifics Not Required Upfront: Strong CAD/CAM programming capabilities, solid understanding of speeds/feeds/toolpaths, and high-precision machining experience are key. We will support your transition into our grinding processes and 6-axis machinery.
- Software Versatility: We primarily utilize Siemens NX, but expertise in Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Esprit, or other major CAM platforms transfers well, as long as you possess strong programming logic, toolpath optimization, and speed/feed management.
- Stability & Career Growth: Backed by decades of profitable growth, strong defense/commercial backlogs, and multi-facility expansion, your career here offers long-term stability and continuous technical advancement.
Position Overview
In this role, you will develop, optimize, and execute high-precision CNC programming for complex grinding and machining operations. Working with difficult-to-machine superalloys (Inconel 718, Titanium 6Al-4V, 17-4 Stainless Steel), you will turn engineered models and blueprints into efficient, highly repeatable 5-axis and 6-axis toolpaths for mission-critical flight and space components.
Key Responsibilities
- CNC Toolpath Development: Write, prove out, and optimize multi-axis CNC programs for precision grinding equipment (including 6-axis machines) and hybrid CNC machinery, maximizing cycle times, surface finish, and tool life.
- CAD/CAM & Tooling Design: Utilize Siemens NX (or leverage prior Mastercam/CAM software experience) to build model geometry, verify clearance/tooling, design custom workholding fixtures, and generate precise G-code.
- Speeds, Feeds & Process Optimization: Calculate optimal speeds, feeds, depth-of-cut, and grinding wheel dress cycles tailored to tough superalloys (Inconel, Titanium, specialized stainless steels).
- Blueprint & GD&T Expertise: Interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models, and stringent Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) callouts to achieve sub-thousandth precision tolerances.
- Collaboration & Setups: Partner closely with manufacturing engineers, shop floor machinists, and setup specialists to validate first-article parts, calibrate fixtures, and streamline production setups.
- Quality Assurance & Measurement: Review inspection data using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and CMM reports to continually verify component accuracy and drive continuous process improvements (Lean/Kaizen).
- Documentation & Standardized Operations: Maintain detailed program revision logs, setup sheets, tooling sheets, and process control documentation for quality auditing (AS9100 / NADCAP compliance).
Qualifications & Skills
Required Experience:
- CNC Programming Expertise: 3+ years of hands-on experience developing CNC programs for multi-axis production machinery.
- CAD/CAM Software Proficiency: Experience with CAD/CAM platforms such as Siemens NX, Mastercam, GibbsCAM, Delcam, or similar. (Willingness to program in NX day-to-day).
- Engineering Print Mastery: Strong ability to read complex mechanical schematics and apply GD&T standards to achieve tight-tolerance requirements.
- Machining Fundamentals: Solid background in tool selection, geometry calculations, fixture design, speed/feed calculations, and precision measurement tools (bore gauges, micrometers, CMM report analysis).
Preferred (Plus, but NOT Required):
- Direct experience programming CNC grinding equipment (e.g., surface, cylindrical, 5-axis/6-axis profile grinders). Training will be provided for candidates with strong overall CAM toolpath logic.
- Experience machining high-temperature alloys (Inconel, Titanium, Hastelloy, Waspaloy).
- Familiarity with aerospace/defense manufacturing quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP).
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: Market-leading salaried position (commensurate with experience and capabilities)
- Comprehensive Health Coverage: Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
- Financial Protection: Life Insurance & Disability options
- Retirement Planning: 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with Company Match
- Paid Time Off (PTO): Generous paid vacation, sick time, and paid holidays
- Work Location: On-site at Plant 2 in Blue Ash, Ohio (Direct support for local plant expansion)
