Position Summary

The Diagnostic X-Ray Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the diagnostic radiology/X-ray department, ensuring high-quality patient care, accurate imaging, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflow. The supervisor provides clinical and administrative leadership to radiologic technologists and support staff while maintaining a safe and professional environment. Other duties include, but are not limited to, the following essential job functions:

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate daily operations across two diagnostic imaging locations
  • Act as a key liaison between Radiologists and staff to address quality, safety, and protocol improvements
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nursing staff, and other departments to improve patient care and workflow
  • Review and maintain appropriate staffing levels
  • Monitor inventory and order supplies to support uninterrupted operations
  • Investigate and help resolve patient concerns in a timely, compassionate manner
  • Audit billing and charges, collaborating with Finance to ensure accuracy
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and promptly address technical issues
  • Perform radiologic technologist duties when necessary based on department needs.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field, as required by the employer
  • Current New York State ARRT certification in Radiography
  • Current New York State Radiologic Technologist license.
  • Current AHA BLS
  • Previous experience working as a radiologic technologist. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of diagnostic X-ray procedures, radiation safety, and quality assurance.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Physical Demands

May require standing for 1 - 4 hours or sitting 1 - 7.5 hours at a time. May require lifting up to 50 pounds. Heavy carrying up to 50 pounds and pulling, pushing, repeated bending, manual dexterity and reaching above shoulder level are also required. For technical leadership, requires assisting patients on and off exam tables and positioning of patients.
